The movie Madagascar is one of my favorite cartoon movies! It is about four Central Park Zoo animals that are best friends. Starring Marty the zebra (Chris Rock), Alex the lion (Ben Stiller), Gloria the hippo ( Jada Pinkett Smith) and Melman the giraffe (David Schwimmer).
Marty the zebra is a normal and funny but doesn’t like his life at the zoo and wants to live in the WILD just like the penguins that are going.
Alex the lion is pampered and stuck up. He loves his life at the zoo and wants nothing to change.
Gloria the Hippo is content with her life and doesn’t want anything to change.
Melman the giraffe thinks he is very sick all the time because he finds new spots that he has never seen before all over his body. He wants to stay at the zoo because it is the only zoo that can afford his medication.

On Marty’s birthday he makes a wish to go to the wild. The other animals are upset about it and tell him it is a bad idea but secretly Marty still wants to get away from the zoo. Marty sneaks out expecting to check out the wild then go back to the zoo so his friends wouldn’t worry. But Melman notices in the middle of the night that he is missing. They decide that they have to save him before he makes a really bad mistake. So they run into him at Central Station and Alex tells Marty never to scare him like that again. But the citizens believe all of them were sneaking out and can’t live a life at the zoo because they can’t handle being captives. So the decide to send them on ship to Africa!

The psychotic penguins that were in the zoo want to go to Antarctica, not Africa. So they hijack the ship and turn it around towards Antarctica. Marty and Alex get into a fight and knock all four friends off the boat and they land on the beautiful island of Madagascar! Marty is loving it! His birthday wish came true. Gloria and Melman didn’t like it at first but after they made friends with the king of the lemurs and got fed delicious fruit they felt like they were at a spa! Alex is having fun for awhile because he is feeling his inner kitty that he has never felt before but he has to have a steak or he will go insane.

Unfortunately, Alex didn’t get his steak so starts visualizing everyone as steaks. He even bites Marty’s butt! Everyone becomes scared of him including himself. He doesn’t like what he has become so he runs away from everyone and barricades himself away.

The penguins make it to Antarctica and it isn’t the great tropical island they thought it was. So they set out to find a new place to live and they wind up finding Madagascar with the boat they hijacked. Gloria, Marty, and Melman are thrilled that they can use the ship to get home. Marty decides that he has to go back for his best friend Alex to get him to the boat so they can go back to civilization together. But when he goes back he runs into trouble with the island’s predator the Foosas (scary hyena type things). Alex steps up and saves his buddy showing Marty “That his heart is bigger than his stomach.”
